Lydia's first
September 2013. Sunday wedding shower for my only daughter. Wedding date June of 2014 but we held the gathering since her cousin's wedding was the night before. Grandma's were in the correct state of the union and bride-to-be was returned home too for the weekend. The happy couple enjoy board games so the decorating theme was games. My friend had gone out and purchased bright and cheery fabric pieces to be placed on the table. Shower was lovely! As we were cleaning up afterwards my friend offered the fabric to me is I thought I would be able to make use of it. I said "Sure!" We talked and thought I should try to use it in a project of some kind for the bride and groom. The wedding took place 9 months later and after the reception was said by many to have been one of the best ever! The couple went on a Mediterranean cruise for honeymoon. About a month after the wedding we got a phone call from both of them announcing.....our first grandchild was on the way! The next trip into my sewing room was the beginning of thoughts about the first quilt to be sewn for the new little one. I had kept all those fabrics together in a bundle and it just seemed appropriate to wrap my future grandchild in them.... and in our love! The red flower is a vintage quilt block that I had purchased at the Country Living Fair in Columbus OH in an earlier year. Just something in my stash. Thought it might actually tame the wild colors of the quilt. Did it do what I had hoped?
