Snowman with Advent pocket addition

Snowman with Advent pocket addition

December 2012 Julia was home for Christmas and we visited a local quilt shop one afternoon. We saw a the Snowman wall hanging completed and she liked it but did not want the more primitive fabrics the existing quilt had. We wandered over to the holiday fabrics and she found contemporary more colorful fabrics she wanted me to use instead. I remember that I did a lot of cutting pieces but then the project sat for a few months. When I did return to it I was please I was able to set the flying geese correctly. My best piecing to date. I sent the advent calendar to her before the quilt was complete and each pocket held a present for the days leading up to Christmas. I had found Wade figurines that represented each month of the year for their printer's box. And candy to fill the other pockets. I took the pieced and hand embroidered quilt top to Peggy at Kinder's Creations in Germantown. I asked if she would quilt snowballs into the design. She had not quilted "bubbles" before but she did for this and I was very happy with the results.
