Mom's Bookcase Quilt
I have loved the idea of a bookcase quilt from the moment I first saw a photo of one. This "bookcase" represents me; my interests and memories from childhood to now and also my love of quilting and books. Some book bindings are labeled with numbers/letters that only I recognize and understand. My two sons really love this quilt and rather than have them get into a "discussion" over who should get it one day in the far future (I hope) I decided to make a second one that will be as close to identical to this one as I can get so that one day they will both have one along with a note explaining all the book bindings. It was a project of love and I enjoyed every minute I spent creating it. BTW - I designed, pieced and put the binding on it but I sent it out for the actual quilting. They did a fabulous job and I feel their finishing touches truly made this quilt unique and in my eyes, an heirloom.
