Chickens, cherries and checks
We got eight backyard chickens last year .. some yellow, some black and a few red. They give us lots of great big eggs which we share with our neighbors, and we have a lovely time, sitting in the back yard sipping wine and watching the chickens! Their henhouse is next to a fig tree; other birds get the high up figs, we get the ones in the middle, and the chickens jump for the low hanging figs. I planted dozens more tomato plants than I needed this year, because 'my girls' love tomatoes best of all. This pattern is from American Jane's Quilts for All Seasons book. It's made using fusible web for applique. The pattern is for a wall hanging, so I made more blocks in order to get a full size bed covering, and I zigzag stitched all the edges so it can be washed now and then. Usually I give my quilts away, but this one I have been hanging on to.
