Ice Cream Social

My daughter says that the pastel colours of the quilt remind her of ice cream. I needed an all purpose quilt for camping and going to the beach in Canada: picnic blanket, table cloth, toddlers play mat, camp fire wrap around, fort foundation....I wanted years of use for all the outside activities of my self, my family and my grand babies when I go see them. It needed to withstand the rigours sand and dirt, children and ice cream, windstorm and snow (you'll remember this is a "Canadian" quilt. The mountains I'll be passing through soon have already seen several inches :) This quilt is made using stretch denim that comes in many pastel colours (and is very forgiving for quilting). The back is a beautiful blue mottled wide back where the flower pattern of the quilting is emphasized by the white thread used. Because this quilt is so large and I wanted for an upcoming hockey trip I did not hand bind, but I did use a leaf and vine stitching so which is quite attractive where it shows on the front of the quilt and is also a dense stitch to reinforce the material.
