Charming Pinwheels

I made this 66 x 85” quilt with less than 3 packs of Gardenvale charm squares plus some yardage. I had very little waste. It's a quick and easy block, but you have to pay close attention to how you assemble them, otherwise you will have to pick out some seams. I learned that the hard way! I followed the instructions that Jenny gave in an old tutorial of the Stack and Whack quilt, but I modified it to use 5" squares instead of turnovers. If you want to make one, then you will need to cut the strips 2 1/4” x 7”, and the blocks will end up being about 12”. The sashing strips are 1 1/2”. I set the blocks on point, and I used a 1 1/2” inner border and a 2 1/2” outer border. I recently purchased an APQS George sit down longarm machine, so I wanted to try something that I had never done before. I watched some instructional videos and then I had fun playing with a Line Tamer ruler and I also tried my luck at McTavishing. I told my husband that I was quilting wind!! :) I used Winline 100% bamboo batting, so it isn't stiff even though it's heavily quilted. It's my favorite batting. I'm very pleased with how it turned out. :)
