U.P. North Woods

I made this quilt for friends of ours who are essentially a second set of parents for our kids. After 30 years I wanted to make something special for them. They live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, so an outdoors/woodsy feel was what I was looking for. I had River Journey fabric and beautiful pale blue paisley for the backing. I cut the fabric into 10" squares and then made hourglass blocks until I had enough for a king size quilt. I used the extra fabric for a border. I had it quilted at a local quilt shop because it was so big. I chose an acorn and maple leaf motif which complimented the fabric perfectly. It was gifted Christmas 2018.
