Cares Program at Emanuel Hospital
I was told about a program that is for kids who are taken out of homes for many reasons like sexual abuse, parental drug abuse and so on. They are brought to Emanuel Hospital in Portland Oregon to be checked out to make sure they are physically ok and to check there mental health and for legal reasons before they are placed in a foster home. The Pine Needle in Lake Oswego Oregon is one quilt shop that has material bags for people to take home and make a quilt to donate to the Cares program. The bags are put together from some of the fabric pieces the quilt shop has and also from donated fabric. I picked up a bag and purchased some yardage to go with it. Then I had it quilted when I finished it. The pattern is the disappearing nine patch. The picture is my Grandson Tanner holding the quilt up for me. I finished this in October 2016. I also made a matching pillowcase for it and took both to the Pine Needle. The pattern you make is up to the quilter to design. The shop does give out a paper with guide lines for size to go with the fabric.
