Disappearing Hour Glass

I am in the process of creating 16 lap quilts for the healthcare people who have been treating me during my trip with cancer. I asked these individuals what their favorite color(s) was/are and was surprised at the resulting responses. Several love purple, a few love blues, one loves cranberry, another burgundy and one loves red. When I saw Jenny's Disappearing Hour tutorial I fell in love with the design. However, she used white cotton as her popping background color and I chose solid black. Once I completed the lap quilt I realized my mistake in my background material color. I think it is very dramatic.
