Don't Tread on Me

This quilt was one that was in my que for a very long time. My hubby was in th U.S. Navy for almost 32 years. I couldn't have been a prouder Navy wife and looked forward to making hi his own quilt..... One of these days...... He flies Old Glory and the Navy Jack off the porch everyday. That is where the quilt center came from. I deconstructed the flag and sewed it onto the center. I found a star pattern and made matching pairs to surround the snake and script. He wanted a special backing, a poncho liner blanket that he carried for many years in the Navy. My long armer was kind enough to give it a try and it came out perfectly. She used a verigated red, white and blue thread in a meandering star stitch. Needless to say it is an original......
