The Pinwheel Heart

I bought the Cutie Patootie panel because it reminded me of me. I couldn't work with it for years because it triggered too many uncomfortable feelings. I finally started working on it. I got it done. Then I cut it all apart. Then I put it back together. I added blue ribbons because they are one of the symbols for Child Abuse Prevention Awareness. I actually used fabric with monster eyes because there were definitely monsters. I added the characters from "Inside Out" because I had a lot of conflicting emotions. Something was missing though. I decided that all survivors deserved a medal. I created The Pinwheel Heart Medal of Honor. The Blue Pinwheel because blue pinwheel gardens are "planted" in April for National Child Abuse Prevention month. Honor because shame is such a challenge. I added Thriver because I aspire to be a thriver. I donated the finished quilt to Synergy Services.
