Baby quilt for my niece
My brother's daughter and her husband were expecting their first baby. What a perfect excuse to make a baby quilt! I decided to try to just create one on my own. I shopped around for cute fabric that would be gender neutral and found some vintage 1930's children's fabric. I went to work, cutting squares and piecing them to create a pleasing pattern. Before I knew it, I had finished it! I had purchased a walking foot as I wanted to be able to quilt it myself. I sandwiched the quilt using the spray adhesive I learned about by watching Jenny's tutorials. It worked very well! I used the stitch in the ditch method I also learned from Jenny and it was fun! Not perfect, but that's ok! Before her baby shower, I had gotten together with my brother and his wife. I told them about the quilt and showed them a photo. They were very impressed but very surprised! How did I know Katy was having a vintage baby shower? How did I know to make her quilt from vintage fabric? Well, I really didn't! I just went with what I thought was cute! When she opened the gift, she and the other guests were very pleased. The look on her face was so precious to me!
