The "Disappearing" Disappearing Hourglass

I saw Jenny's Disappearing Hourglass 2 tutorial and immediately knew that I had a Moda layer cake (Mirabelle) that I wanted to use to make it. I had been saving this layer cake for just the right project and to my mind, this was the one! The quilt took me much longer to cut out and piece than I thought it would and I did much more "reverse" sewing than I normally do. By the time I was finished, it had come to be know around the house as the project from Hades. Once it was done, I went back and looked at the tutorial and to my utter dismay, I realized that I had put the block together incorrectly. This was an expensive and time consuming "oops" project. While I am mostly happy with the way it looks, the fact that I now KNOW that the blocks were put together incorrectly had prevented me from backing, quilting and binding this top. Note to myself - remember that your memory isn't as keen as it once was. . .
