Catherine's Retirement Quilt
One of our managers at the library recently retired and we threw a party for her. It was suggested that we gift her with a quilt, since she liked quilting. My co-workers decided that I would be the best candidate for making this quilt. We collected some money and I took one of my former co-workers with me to a quilt shop. She had never been in one before and it was a sale day! After wandering for over an hour, her hands filled with different fabric and unable to come to a decision, I picked out a collection-Union Blues. Next-we had to come to a concensus as to what pattern would be best. I took in a pile of my books and suggested that a simple pattern would be best for me to complete it in time for her dinner. We chose a Disappearing 9 Patch. It went fairly fast and I had the pieces all over my bed, the rows numbered, to try and keep them straight. When I was finished. we gave the quilt to another quilter who put a border on with all our names embroidered on it. It was a great success!
