I had recently discovered the patterns of Laura Heine. She creates art quilts using fusing. I had picked up one of her patterns on sale at a local quilt shop. Another local shop held a class using Laura's methods. The class members could use any of her patterns. It was a fun experience. For one thing, we didn't take our machines to class but prepared the background there and started fusing our fabrics. Another nice thing about this fusing method is that you can use Steam a Seam 2 and make the pieces temporarily fusible, able to move around until you come to a decision. Later, after all the pieces are where you like them, they are permanently fused by iron. Then, you can quilt the project as you like.
