Doris' Quilt
This quilt I made for my Aunt Doris who turned 100 years young last Nov. She has been telling the family that she did not want a party or any big celebration for her 100th birthday. So her birthday came and went - we had a small party for immediate family only and she was very pleased with that. She has always been there for us while we were growing up. She is a very tiny women and has always complained of the cold in the winter ( we live in Ottawa, Canada- coldest capital on earth!). So I spoke to my sister, my Dad and my cousins and it was decided - one quilt coming up for a very special lady. The quilt is all done in batiks in her favorite colors. The pattern is the disappearing four patch. When we gave it to her she was speechless!! She told me that no one had every made her anything before. I was very touched. She snuggles up her quilt on cold nights and any time she needs an extra quilt hug!
