Heart Beat

Heart Beat

My youngest son is in his late 20's and his friends from elementary are grown up, getting married and having babies. One couple is just so sweet and caring for their new baby girl and each other, that I wanted to make them a quilt. It needed to have happy colors, I thought scrappy would be fun and I needed a good pattern for a baby quilt. Of course I started looking through Jenny's tutorials for inspiration and settled on a pinwheel pattern. Jenny is always suggesting to play around with the half square triangles to make different patterns, so I did. I layed the pieces out on our guest bed and moved them around until I noticed they were forming hearts. This was perfect for my gift to this family. By rearranging the half square triangles, I was able to get multiple hearts, connected with "beats" between them. I was really pleased with how this quilt turned out. The young couple were pleased too, because as it turns out, no one had made a baby quilt for them. Thanks for all your inspiration Jenny Doan and the rest Missouri Star Quilt Company!
