Irish Prayer Quilt

My husband taught with the most wonderful Nun for ten years. When she had to retire due to health problems, her order called her home. We made it a point to travel the 1,500 miles twice a year to visit. I made this quilt and three pillowcases especially for her. It gave her so much comfort and joy every day especially during her last 6 month is of life. The other Sisters took turn keeping her pillowcases clean and pressed every day. Even in death, the quilt covered her procession from her death bead to the waiting Hearst. They all stopped and three sisters took turns reading each prayer. For her Celebration of Life, the quilt covered the table where all of the pictures from her 65 years of service to God were displayed. The quilt remains at the Canticle for all the other sisters to enjoy. Her three closest three friends each got a pillowcase.
