Ahoy, the Whale

This quilt was inspired by a Pinterest photo and a need to reduce my stash of ocean and nautical themed fabric. I used a red ticking for the center squares, alternating the direction of the stripes, to add visual interest. The whale is a large applique which is fused and then outlined with a machine buttonhole stitch.
