Town square

When I saw this tutorial, I just had to try it. My oldest daughter had a birthday on Monday, and the tutorial was the Friday before. So around noon, I started, and about 10 that night I finished the top, minus the outer border. I watched the video 4 times, and thought I had it all down pat. Wrong! I measured the longer strips to 12 inches instead of 12 1/2. So I had to trim the blocks to all match. Then I made 2 blocks, and realized there is definitely 2 ways to put the long strips and squares together. One of the blocks had the black square on the upper left and lower right, and the other one had the black square on the upper right and the lower left. Well, finally figured out that the first one was easier for me to keep the black squares lining up correctly, so finished the others that way. So, I put it out on my queen size bed, and decided to switch it up a little. All in all, I love the quilt, and hope my daughter will as well.
