Fractured Paintbox

I saw the pattern and absolutely loved it, so I took a paper piecing class to get the techniques down. I picked out 18 batik fabrics in gradations of color and bought 5 inches of each, to make 36 jelly-roll type strips. While I had the finished blocks on the floor, trying to finalize the arrangement, my cat decided it was the perfect place to be sick. I heard her start and snatched her up and off before she could get anything on the pieces. Finally, I asked my friend to custom quilt it. She designed a repeated motif for each block. I think the result is quite stunning.
