Pirate Quilt
My youngest son loves pirates. I fell in love with the Buried Treasure layer cake. I bought that fabric and came up with an easy idea for the quilt top. I split the layer cake in half, buried treasure had 40. Then I went to the cutting board and cut the 20 squares on the 45 degree angle 1" from the center line on both sides making a 2" strip. I cut those 20 going left to right and then I repeated the process cutting the remaining 20 going right to left. I matched fabrics and began sewing. The top went together really easy. To make the quilt lay out square I added 2 solid color blocks and added a personal touch for Owen by using t-shirt iron on transfers.
