Lynn's Quilt
Last year I lost my daughter to chronic illness. Quilting is truly therapeutic, and without family, prayer and sewing, I wouldn't have survived. My Father-in-Law passed 2 months before my daughter, so I decided to make a quilt for my Mother-in-Law. Other than losing her Husband and Granddaughter, she fell & broke her leg, and lost 2 dear friends... all within about a year. I felt we both needed this quilt. Her favorite color is red, so I knew it was "her" when I saw the French General fabric line. It's a simple pattern of rectangles with a creme background. For the quilting, I free-motioned the stitches in a flower pattern (as best I could; I'm learning). It took almost a year to complete since I work full-time, but every minute of it was a joy to sew. Like I said, many prayers and thoughts went through my mind while making it, so this quilt is very special to me....(and my 11 year-old Chihuahua, who thought it was for her! ) Its a large throw size....about 60x60 with coordinating gingham for the backing and binding.
