Scrappy Sister's Choice/Chinese Coins
This double sided quilt started out as a bunch of 6 inch (finished) 9 patches from swaps that I participated in during the mid 1990s on the AOL quilting boards. They sat in my stash for 20 years, until I saw a tutorial/free pattern from Bonnie Hunter's "Quiltville" website for a "Scrappy Sister's Choice" quilt. There weren't quite enough center blocks for my layout, so I made more centers out of a stack of 5 inch charm squares in 30s reproductions purchased from "Stitch On", one of my semi-local quilt stores. There are three '1930s greens' in the star points and a variety of solid and tone on tone white, ivory, muslin, and cream fabrics in the background. I only included a limited palette because in an actual 1930s quilt, the background would probably have all been solid muslin. The backing is actually another 1930s style quilt top in the "Stacked Bricks" or "Chinese Coins" pattern. Reproduction and vintage 30s and 40s fabrics set with plain muslin (lightly tea dyed). Machine pieced and bound by me; long arm machine quilted by Pam Flach in an all over clamshell pattern. Size 74 x 84 inches (short drop double bed sized)
