Civil War Granny Square

Civil War Granny Square

I was gifted these Civil War scraps and always wanted to make this pattern. I just cut 3,333 two and a half inch squares!!! (twelve for future shams) It took 41 per block and the layout is 9x9 so 81 blocks- After quilting it measures about 100 inches either way. I only know how to quilt like this meandering or a grid. I chose this because with the weight of this size I was afraid my grid wouldn’t stay in the ditch straight. The backing is Parlor Pretties - Diamond Geometric Gray 108" Wide. It is sold here at MSQC. This quilt and shams I plan to add, will be gifted to one of my grandsons as a wedding gift. I just hope the wife appreciates it.
