The First Lulu Quilt and More Lulu Quilts
"Lulu" was the "grandmother name" my mom selected. (She insisted she was too young to be called Grandma or Nana or any such "old-sounding" name.) Mom passed away long before any of her great grandchildren were born, so I wanted to be sure each of them knew about her and had a piece of her. When she passed away, I kept two of her favorite nightgowns, not knowing what I might do with them at the time. (This was long before I started quilting.)
The white quilt is the first "Lulu Quilt" I made, for my great nephew. The satin circles are from one of mom's gowns.
Next came the chevron Lulu Quilt, which was for my first grandson. Then came one for my great niece and another for my second grandson. All four feature fabrics from the same satin gown my mother loved.
