Carolina Pride
After realizing I hadn't made a wedding quilt for a niece, I found a bit of Carolina Panthers fabric on sale at the quilt shop. I picked up some white, turquoise and black to go with it and set off to find a pattern. I ended up using the "Hugs & Kisses" pattern from Connecting Threads - 52 weeks of free. It allowed me to fussy cut the panther faces for the cornerstones.
This quilt also reinforce a hard lesson about measuring the borders. I had the quilt on the quilt frame, and it wouldn't lay flat. I ended up taking it off the frame, ripping out the bottom borders and taking out about 2 1/2 to 3 inches out of all three. I'll still shake my head whenever I see it, but my niece and her husband, the diehard Panthers fans, just love it.
