Nautical News - A Free Quilt Pattern in 6 Sizes!

Nautical News is a custom quilt set using Seaworthy fabrics. I couldn't find a pattern or tutorial for the size of quilt blocks I was after, so I wrote the pattern for layer cake squares. The pattern includes 6 sizes from baby to king and is layer cake friendly. I include two lap sizes in my patterns whenever possible, because short people (like me!) don't want a long lap quilt, and tall people do. Enderquilt - Game On!

Falling Stars ~ Pattern in 6 Sizes Baby to King

Falling Stars is a quilt pattern I designed that includes instructions for 6 sizes from Baby to King, including 2 Lap sizes. The smaller lap is ideal for kids and shorter people, and the large lap fits tall people very well. The size of the HSTs in the quilts increases as the size of the quilt increases, so the bed quilts have larger HSTs and are thus faster to make yet still stunning. This quilt pattern looks great in pretty much any fabric combination with a solid color such as black, gray, white or your favorite solid color. This pattern was inspired by fabric design by Ellen of The Long Thread, and permission has been granted by the fabric designer for me to write this pattern. "Swirls & Curls"

A picture of this quilt was sent to me as my daughter's choice for her Christmas gift. I was able to find a friend that had the templates. So I proceeded. Took me 8 months & over 40 different fabrics to succeed. I discovered that in order to get the blocks to interact with each other, I had to turn the templates over to get mirror image blocks. Was an interesting project. I had it quilted with a "Bubbles" design which fit right in with the block design.

Garden Song Quilt

King size plus drapes for master bedroom. Garden Song by Marianne Elizabeth. Fabric - Abigail by Kathy Brown, Teacher's Pet for Red Rooster. I've made a variety of color choices in the Maple Star blocks - don't want the overall effect to be too pink, need some delft blue. 4-13-13 Top is complete except for the borders, which I need to figure out. Added a narrow purple border, and wide floral border. 4-26-13 Bought 3 3/8 yd of 118" wide black for back at Creative Needle. Ironed, today off to the quilter, Connie Nelson. 5-10: Time to pick up the quilt still needs binding. 5-15: Now for the binding. 9-10-16. Binding complete, second pillow sham complete

Peggy's Quilt #12 - Cottage Romance

This is a story of loving a fabulous fabric line (Larkspur by 3 Sisters for Moda) and loving a pattern (Cottage Romance in Better Homes & Gardens "Scrappy Quilts" pages 38-41) but not really loving the two put together. I think the problem is that the beautiful fabric was not highlighted enough by the blocky simplistic pattern. However, I do like the feel of the quilt - the fabric is smooth and lovely and drapes beautifully on my bed. I used a 90/10% silk/poly batting which probably helps with the drape, and found extra-wide backing from the fabric line (Feather Garden Bloom in the Larkspur collection). I cut the fabric and set up the pieces for each block before going to a quilting retreat in April 2016. Cutting took 3 days and piecing the quilt together took 2 days (very simplistic). The long-arm free-motion quilting was done by Lyn Durbin of Camlyn Quilts in June 2016. I also made 4 pillowcases to match the quilt, using the four paisley prints in the fabric collection for the cuffs. Regardless of this not being my favorite quilt, I do like how it will brighten up my bedroom during the winter. I love quilting! Peggy 091116

Tall Glass of Pink Lemonade

Love collecting pink and orange fat quarters. In fact I can't stop buying them everywhere I go. Eventually I decided to make something out of them and the blocks just kept multiplying and multiplying. I ended up with a huge quilt, and a baby quilt and tons left over. And guess what?
