Summer in the Park
When I took my first quilting course in April 2015, I would go downstairs at my LQS. That where the 50% fabrics are put when they get new shipments and need more space upstairs. I just fell in love with a line of fabric called Fleurologie. So much so I bought entire left over bolts of the entire line. I probably had about 18 metres. I waited until the fabrics told me what they would like to become. Then I found the MSQC tutorial for Summer in the park. So on a Monday, I cut up about 8 yards of fabrics into 2 1/2" strips. Then I started sewing together. It went quite fast and by the end of the week I had the top pieced. I just had to find the perfect border fabric, which I did. I also pieced the back with the remaining fabrics, even using the end pieces of the cut trips to make a border in the backing. I do this with all my quilt, so that when you turn down the quilt at night, you see some of the front. I still need to quilt it, but want to wait as I want to take a course with LQS to quilt on long arm. Then I can rent time and make myself. I want to go from only being a topper to a quilter for queen and king size quilts.
