Custom Quilting an Antique Quilt
I custom quilted this antique quilt top. The top is a transitional quilt top, having been made over several eras. The darker sections were likely assembled in the late 1800s and early 1900s, while the feedsack strip was likely assembled in the 1920s or 1930s. The diamonds are made of two triangles, which I've heard was less common in that day. A few holes needed mended, but overall the quilt top was in excellent condition. She is happy to be quilted and finished after all of these years. Quilting is an allover meander. This quilt was the last quilt I quilted on Mrs.Singer before buying a computerized machine. Were I to quilt it today, I would use a much fancier design.
