MegaPurplette's likes Escape from the Zoo I made this quilt for my God Daughter who has just had her first baby. She wanted black, white and emerald green and it had to have jungle animals. My beautiful daughter drew the animals and then made the appliqué templates. By Bon 49 LIKES | 1889 VIEWS For Mama In 2001 my mother needed special care and I created this for her. By gwen 12 LIKES | 1461 VIEWS For The Love of a Friend My husband's first wife tragically died of cancer. Her best friend was critically ill in the hospital and was unable to make that cross country trip to see her best friend before she passed. We were packing our home to move to another state and came across a box of his late wife's dresses that had been overlooked when he was donating her clothes. I told him to set them aside and that I would make something with them. Fast forward one year. We were finally settled in our new home and I decided it was time to make a quilt with Susan's dresses. I cut away all the seams to see how much fabric I would have. I found the great tutorial from Jenny with the written instructions from my Block magazine, I began my project and finished it in time so I could give it to Linda for Christmas. I had custom quilting done to bring out the best in the dresses fabric and the design. Linda hasn't stopped smiling since she received her quilt. The quilt has helped to ease the pain of loosing her best friend. The quilt also has greatly pleased my husband knowing that his late wife is special to me even though I never had the pleasure to know her. Added red star buttons and hot chrystals to give it some bling. I embroidered the applique words to the fabric, then quilted it. By LindaMartindale 3 LIKES | 1133 VIEWS Orange Peel Quilt I made this quilt to fit the king sized bed in our 5th wheel camper. I added a scalloped border around the bottom half and omitted where the bed fits in the slide. Anyone that has tried to shove a comforter down the sides of a bed in a slide out will appreciate this. It has 244 5" squares and took 12 hours to FMQ. I quilted around the orange peels which makes an interesting pattern on the back. Two tutorials from MSQC assisted me in making this quilt. The orange peel and the scalloped edge tutorials. The scallop tool works great. I love this quilt. By QuiltsByJo 28 LIKES | 1573 VIEWS Just something I tossed together...... I wanted to accomplish three things with this little project. First – in keeping with my vow to myself that I wouldn’t purchase any fabric until I had made a SUBSTANTIAL dent in my stash, I used this sewing theme fabric that I had on hand. It worked out I only had enough to do this little wall hanging – but I found I could also use it as a ‘dust cover’ for my machine. Second – this was practice on getting my points all lined up properly – and I was rather successful with that! And last – it was also another great way to get more practice with binding!
