hamlet2014's likes Angie's Quatrefoil I was commissioned to make a quilt for one of my vendor's employees. She had told me that she had a quilt that was stolen from her many years ago that her grandmother had made for her and she was still heartbroken about it. I spoke with the owner of the company and he wanted to pay me to make one for her as her Christmas gift. I knew what colors she wanted, but I chose the Quatrefoil pattern. I used batiks to give the quilt "movement" I think the dark green sashing looks like flower stems :) I also enlarged the flower for the backing so that the quilt is reversible. I hope she LOVES it!! I cut the applique on the Brother Scan N Cut and appliqued on with my long arm with invisible thread. Of course I never follow anything 'exactly' so I tweaked it to make it my own. This was a bit tricky and I said a few bad words during the making of my quilt so I was afraid it had bad Karma (just joking) but I am very pleased with the outcome. The teacher was Joan Ford from Syracuse NY and we all had a lot of fun at the retreat. For the back of my quilt I used Tree of Life panel surrounded by borders which turned out very nicely. My only dismay was that my grandkids liked the BACK of the quilt better than the hard work on the FRONT! This is probably the closest I'll ever get to a double wedding ring quilt. I still need to add borders and get it quilted. I added the border in lapis blue and had it quilted by MSQC in a paisley feathers design. The backing is a floral print I picked up a while back. Really happy with the way it turned out. It was surprisingly easy to make. I had to step outside my comfort zone and you should too. Go for it. I finished it in November and added it to a basket to be raffled at the Nursing Home to benefit the Activities Department and thus the residents. It starts with a bargello background, then I embroidered my own 3-D ornaments and added them to the runner.
