Compass

I made Compass for a special couple who likes to sail. The pattern comes from Grandmother's Surprise; I was inspired by Kathy Andrzejewski's color arrangement and modified it to fit their house and to make it more compass-like. The border quilting is my own design, using nautical knots. Hand pieced, hand quilted, 68" square. I love this pattern because all nine blocks are made from the same block design but the color placement makes the difference.
