Big Sky Country

Our son enjoyed snowboarding in Montana. So, I decided to make him a sort of memory quilt. I used up old pants, scraps from garment making and The Billings Gazette paper. I used the news paper as my foundation. Sewed pieces to it, then trimmed to size of page. I did rip all the paper off the back before quilting. I used flannel on the back. I then proceeded to hand quilt the names of all the ski resorts in Montana on the blocks. Funny, their oldest sons name happens to be one of the resorts, too! Long before he was married. This was made way back in 2000, somewhere near that year. I used a piece of chalkboard chalk to write the words, gave a width that was pleasing to the eye for quilting. Our daughter in law was kind enought to take some pictures of it for us. Their oldest son uses it on his bed.
