Winter Diamonds
I recently finished Diamonds Squared Quilt from one of Jenny Doan's Missouri Star Quilt Company and featured in one of her Block Magazines. It is made up of 6 1/2 inch strips stitched into a quadrant. I used a batik jelly roll. White sashing, a yellow inner border, dark pink outer border and brown batik binding complete the top. It was a great pattern to practice snowball corners and to work with cornerstones in the sashing. I embroidered a design of seashells and leaves in the interior of the quilt. For the border, I used a wavy free motion design. The quilt finished at about 76 x 90 which covers a full size bed. It has been rotating through my house as it brightens the winter days. Family members are already asking, "Who's quilt is this for?"
