Creative Grids Scrap Template Baby Girl Quilt

We just found out our friends are expecting a baby girl at the end of July. They were coming today for lunch. My first girl quilt. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to use the creative girds 3 templates scrappy quilt. My plan was to make a rainbow quilt, but when you look at your scraps I didn't have enough variety of fabric to make a rainbow so I kept to the color scheme. This pattern was so much fun. Simple but challenging. It took more time picking and cutting the pieces then sewing and making the blocks. Did I make mistakes? YES Quilting math - I haven't mastered it yet. The backing was pieced but I needed it to be 10 inches bigger for the width and length. After I sewed it on I was 2 inches short on one side - I couldn't miter the corners. therefore, I had to remove the backing cut it up as a border. Then I used white fleece as the backing. (( No batting because I didn't have any fireproof for a baby quilt and no time to purchase any.) What did I learn? I still have a lot of scraps to bust. Hi. Ho it is off to sewing I go.
