Baby Quilt for Baby Alice

So my cousin is pregnant with her first child due next month. Her husband had recently suffered the loss of his father and stepmother in a hot air ballooning accident. I wanted to make something cheerful to help brighten her spirits. For a while I've been wanting to try hand quilting and thought this was the perfect project for it just to see if I liked hand quilting before diving into a big project. So I made this, it is the Double Slice Layer Cake pattern from Missouri Star Quilt Co. And I used half of one layer cake. The fabric is Vintage Picnic by Bonnie and Camille for Moda fabrics along with a bird panel fabric I got on clearance at my LQS. It is machine pieced and hand quilted, very proud of this project and I think I've been converted to being a "mostly" hand quilter!
