Irish Chain Quilt

Irish Chain Quilt

Wanted to make a quilt all for myself so I watched the Irish Chain Quilt from MSQC. Very easy pattern BUT the fabric quantities you need that are mentioned in the tutorial are all wrong. Jenny says you only need 1 print jelly roll and one solid jelly roll. While that may be the case, the number of strip sets you gotta make are completely wrong. Jenny states you need 13 strip sets of two solid strips and one print strip and 26 strip sets of two prints and one solid. You cannot get that many strip sets out of one print roll and one solid roll. 8 strip sets of two solids and one print and 16 strip sets of two prints and one solid is the MAX you will be able to get out of these two jelly rolls. Granted, you still get a MASSIVELY LARGE quilt. But just FYI before you sew too many strips together and have to start ripping out tons of WOF seams (it happened to me). I decided to make a quilt that is 11 blocks wide and 13 rows long. Thats yielding a quilt center of about 72"x84", after borders it'll be about 84"x96" which is a decent Queen Size quilt. Looking forward to seeing this project progress!
