FARMHOUSE
My sister and her husband purchased a lovely piece of property in the country, with a barn as the only building. For several years, they have been converting the barn into a home, which they recently moved into. Unknown to her, I started a couch throw for her in 2020, using Donna Jordan's "Ribbons" pattern and two packages of precut 5-inch squares from a line called "Urban Farmhouse". My sister told me that her new home would be decorated with neutrals (browns, greys, and black), which are her favorite colors. As I lay out the fabric pieces, I decided to add more variety with browns and blacks from my fabric stash. so I ended up with a larger quilt. When I finished quilting and binding the throw, this year, I named the quilt "Farmhouse" and mailed it to my sister as a surprise housewarming present. She declared it "perfect," and is using it as a topper over a neutral, solid-colored spread in her master bedroom. I am pleased that she loves it!
