This quilt started as a pile of neutral and white fabrics, embellished with touches of metallic silver. It sort-of “grew” on its own, without a pattern. When I decided to applique some of Jenny’s Wonky Star blocks onto the starry/snowy border, my granddaughter appeared at my side and exclaimed, “Grandma, the stars match the trees!” I couldn’t resist…..”There’s a story about that,” I said: “Once, there was a grove of young pine trees growing in the mountains. Magic stardust sprinkled onto the snowflakes, which fell to the grove below and covered each young pine tree with its own silvery, patterned blanket that matched the Wonky Stars.
