XOXO Quilt
In September 2014, my first Row by Row quilt was turned in to the Front Porch Quilts in Troy MI. The owner allowed me to pick out Fat Quarters for my prize. I picked out the most modern FQ’s in her shop, many black and red. At Sit and Sew, Patricia Fox taught us how to make the 3D Bow Tie block. While helping Mom recoup from knee surgery in November 2015, the “XOXO Quilt” top was born using the 3D bow tie blocks. My sister, a big fleece fan, and I were shopping fleece at JoAnn’s. Low and behold they were selling XOXO fleece that year. What a perfect soft and cuddly backing! Five years later, two moves, one house and one motorhome sold... hubby and I decided to trial some custom quilting on our new long arm and also practice quilting on a non-traditional quilt backing. The “XOXO Quilt” UFO became the guinea pig. We quilted and seam ripped and quilted for hours on end. We learned many very valuable quilting lessons.... Would I quilt differently? Probably, but I’m elated this UFO is finally complete. This quilt is for our grand daughter who would leave us with her favorite send off... XOXO heart.
