Sam's Sailboats

My 26 year-old son Sam has severe developmental disabilities. I recently decided that his room needed an update and thought that a nautical theme would be fun without being too juvenile. We painted his walls a pale blue and hung pictures of crabs and fish and the seashore. About the same time we were redecorating my Block magazine arrived with the pattern for this quilt. It was serendipity, without a doubt! It was fun to make and went together quickly. I quilted it from the backside using the waves as my stitching pattern. It was the perfect finishing touch.
