This one is for my third grandchild - a beautiful little baby girl. After a recent trip to visit them, I wanted to give thanks for all that they have done for our country (hence the stars) and the awesome hospitality they showed us. The fabric is Castlewood by Moda. I'm sure this fabric is a couple years old. I love the Fall colors and it will go perfectly in their family room. I made two star pillows with zipper back openings to make washing easy. The quilt is backed with with an tan minky. The quilting was done with a matching goldish/tan thread and the pattern really shows on the light background & minky. The panel has trapunto quilting for the eagle, flag and tassels. The quilt was quilted on my home machine. I went through a lot of trial and error but I think the results are good. My nephew really appreciates the quilt and is quite proud of it. This was the third quilt I have made. The pillows were made from leftover fabric. I love the illusion of circles that the star block makes with the alternate Shoofly block. I purchased this blueberry border fabric on a trip to Maine (known for it's blueberries) and now I have a wonderful memory quilt of our vacation there. I was going to keep this quilt for myself but my daughter loves it so much I decided to gift it to her. (Once I finish the binding!) I had it professionally quilted by my local LAQ. By Barbmc 10 LIKES | 882 VIEWS Blues and Greys Started sewing half square triangles with a layer cake of blues and greys mixing in some white and turquoise. Turned them into quarter square triangles. Really just made it up and then took all the squares and played around with placement. I love the colors and it just kind of fell together. Gave it to my son and daughter-in-law By Fidgmom13 29 LIKES | 1073 VIEWS Thousand Pyramids I used all civil war fabrics collected since 1998, when they first became popular. My daughter waited 19 years for this quilt! By Anannymess 68 LIKES | 1680 VIEWS Dachshund pillow I have a friend who loves Dachshunds & has a great eye for decorations. I always want to impress him, & this project worked. This also was a good trial for the lap quilt version I am planning of this for a cousin's wedding present. It was loved so much that the fabric has separated. Also, my seams were not all 1/4" By DawnyK 9 LIKES | 888 VIEWS Christmas Ribbon Star Quilt I love the Ribbon Star quilt by MSQC! Using a Daily Deal 2-1/2" strip roll by Robert Kaufman and black strip roll, the piecing was super easy and quick. My friend, Lillie N., quilted it in time for a Christmas gift to my son. By GrandmaCathy 10 LIKES | 1089 VIEWS Ribbon Star Holiday Flourish This is the Christmas quilt I decided to keep for my own this year. I used the Holiday Flourish Scarlet jelly role and Kona cotton silver for the background. The border was purchased locally. I used Jenny's tutorial for the Ribbon Star Quilt. The quilting was done by MSQC with silver thread in a snowflake design. It shows up nicely on the white back. One of my favorites this year. By Antique1950be 41 LIKES | 1370 VIEWS «1234»
