Stuffed Animals Baby Quilt
My cousin's son (George) and his wife (Ainsley) came to America to have their baby because she had a high risk pregnancy and they felt that the health care in Houston was so much better than in Belize (where they were living) or in Taiwan (where they were from). They left their family and friends and came to stay with me in an effort to secure the best start for their baby that they could.
I thought a quilt made especially for the new baby was just the ticket to help them feel warm and welcome. I chose a stuffed animal applique and surrounded each block it with sashing strips. I used a stipple stitch to quilt and added backing and binding. It came out beautiful, and they were so pleased.
Ainsley had never touched a sewing machine and was intrigued by how many different things you could accomplish with material and thread. As a baby gift, I purchased a small Singer sewing machine for her and she has been stitching ever since. Ainsley loves YouTube.com and is constantly watching sewing and quilting videos and trying them at home. her favorites are those Jenny Doan does on the Missouri Star Quilt Company website.
