I first started sewing in elementary school by making doll clothes out of fabric scraps. Not very pretty but a start. In Jr. High Home Ec I made an apron and a stuffed worm (from a pattern I made). By high school I was making clothes for myself and learning from anyone I knew who sewed. I continued sewing for myself and my children and eventually started making quilts. Each of my 8 children and 27 grandchildren have a baby quilt I've made for them. I've made lots of quilts for friends and raffles and especially just for fun. In 2014 I won my first ribbon at the county fair--a blue ribbon for my class. I now teach beginning quilting classes at a local store about once a month. Twice a month several ladies come to my home to learn more about quilting. Retirement is wonderful because now I have all the time I want to quilt and be creative.
