Born and raised in Montreal, Canada. Moved to the States in 1968. Two children, six grandchildren. Worked as a copywriter and typesetter for a local department store, then 31 years as a typesetter/Print Services Coordinator at the local Public Transit Company (COTA). Retired late 2019 and finally started my quilting adventure in late 2020. I’ve heard people say done is better than perfect but didn’t believe it, although I was buying fabric, kits and BOMs i wasn’t doing anything with them. Not sure why but one day something came over me and I started trying. I haven’t done any actual quilting yet but I have completed two pieced tops and a BOM kit. Not perfect, but done! I am enjoying the piecing process and have the supplies for at least 20 tops. My doctor says I am in very good health for my age so here’s hoping! I decided to spend 2022 piecing tops and sending them out for quilting. Maybe next year I’ll try actual quilting!

And so it begins…
I have wanted to learn for years, so I started buying but - not doing. In late 2020 after a year of enforced retirement, thanks COVID, i finally cut some blocks and sewed them together, again, thanks COVID! I didn’t know what to do with the blocks so I out them aside and started cutting and sewing again. Last week I came across a Jenny tutorial and went to work with the original blocks. Even though this is technically my third top, to me it is the first because these are the blocks that got me started. I sewed my columns together and then my rows but next time I will do rows then columns. And, with no fear at all cut that thing into three pieces! After sewing them together I had a hard time finding all the mistakes and just sat and looked at it and cried-for a long time! I let fear of not being perfect keep me from making anything at all. Now at almost 78 I have fabric and kits to make about 20 quilt tops. I haven’t tried the actual quilting part yet but I now have a goal, I want to make a top for each of my children and their children…only seven to go.
