Grandma's
When I was a little girl , my little sister, my older brother, and my self , spent the summer at our grandmothers. She made us girls dresses that we wore down past our knees, braided our hair, used the wrapping off of the coffee bag for a rubber band, then put ribbons around them, and then told us to go play but not to get dirty!! LOL!
One day I came back into the house and seen my grandmother tearing up her worn dresses and some of the material she used on our dresses, into strips. I was shocked and asked her what she was doing...she was making a quilt she said...I stayed and watched. The years rolled by, my grandma, after my grandpa passed away, came to live with my Mom, but she no longer worked on quilts. But as I was going thru some boxes at mom's I found some quilts that had been put away and don't you know there was that quilt that my gram had made so long ago! When I asked if I could have it she said "when I'm gone". Sadly she is gone and so is my mother but I got the quilt and 3 to 5 others, some finished and some not....don't know for sure if this is the one that was unfinished, and I finished it, or it is the other one but I'm awfully proud to have them.
