I bought this layer cake at quilt market 2012. I loved Carina's booth so much I just had to make something for myself. This quilt is queen size.

Paper-pieced boats centered in a Storm At Sea block. This was for Dad. He was in the Coast Guard and then a career longshoreman. He now sits in dialysis three days a week and he says it gets cold while he sits there. Now he has a quilt and a fabric hug from me while he is there.

This panel and coordinating fabric came out in 2011, shortly after I started seriously quilting. The panel pieces were all different sizes, but are exact replicas of the art in the book by Dr. Seuss. I couldn't figure out how to build a quilt using all those different sized blocks, but after completing almost 100 quilts over the past 3 years, I figured out how to put them together using familiar techniques and small blocks to build rows as the story progresses.
