I started quilting in January 2013 when my sister and I visited my niece in Oregon (they both have been quilting for over 15 years). We went to a quilt show and a few quilt shops. I got intrigued by the beauty of all the quilts and thought "I think I could do that." My sister helped me pick out a layer cake, the border, binding, and backing material. I made a simple pattern by just sewing the pieces together and offset each row. Several thousands of dollars later, I have created over 8 quilts in just the first year, I recently got a sit-down long-arm for easier quilting and I love it. Quilting is not cheap, but it is so worth it when you see the finished product and the smiles on the recipients faces; it is a very rewarding hobby.
