Love it when someone can create and spend as little as possible to do it.
Blue and Yellow Layer Cake Quilt
This is the first larger quilt that I have made. I used Jenny's tutorial on the Double Slice Layer Cake and it's a great project for a newer quilter like me. I also wanted to quilt my own quilt, and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be! I love seeing this quilt on my family room couch and snuggling up with it.
My niece had just had her 5th child. I had made all of the previous ones a quilt at birth and one on their 1st birthday. I decided to design something different for Raeanna. Here is her window seat from an attic window with 2 chenille cats and 3 dimensional pillows. I brought it in to show my guild and they insisted I get it copyrighted.
My grandson graduated from college in May with a wildlife biology major. I chose the Alpine woods 10 inch blocks and made a simple quilt with these prints with sashing and cornerstones and a self designed border of pine trees. A long arm quilting friend chose bears, moose and pines to quilt into the quilt. John loves it.
Gears Quilt Tutorial
This Gears Quilt is so fun and easy to make! I had a blast working with my Sizzix Big Shot Pro, the quilt went together so fast because of it! This quilt has a Steampunk feel to it which I love. The background is a pieced Broken Dishes pattern with the gears appliqued on top. Each gear also has a shadow to give the quilt more life!
